La Fiesta de La Tirana (Northern Chile) is a religious celebration that brings together Catholic liturgy and Andean traditions. The “Diabladas” are among its most popular dances.
The main character in this dance is the Highest Demon who represents Lucifer, trying to tempt a mortal woman who represents the human race, until the Demon is stopped by the intervention of the archangel Saint Michael. Finally, good vanquishes over evil and the demons begin to worship the virgin.
